Covid-19 Scotland Update | September 2020
Firstly, the Scotway House team would like to send our deepest condolences to all of those who have been affected by the Covid-19. Whether it be your own health and wellbeing, financially, socially, your place at university and particularly to those who have lost loved ones which saddens us deeply. We send our warmest well wishes to you all.
Travelling to Scotland?
Please make sure you are familiar with the latest quarantine advice for travellers. You may have to quarantine for 2 weeks when you arrive. Please remember to:
- wear a face covering
- avoid crowded places
- clean hands and surfaces regularly
- stay 2m away from other people
- self-isolate and book a test if you have COVID-19 symptom
You can check local advice and measures which are updated regularly on the Scottish Government website.
Universities & Colleges
Universities and Colleges in Scotland have opened again for teaching, including Glasgow Universities which returned in September. Institutions have begun a phased return with a blended model of remote and limited on-campus learning. New guidance has been published to help Scotland’s colleges and universities prepare for a safe and phased return to campus - you can read more on this on the government website here.
NHS Protect Scotland App
We encourage you to download the NHS Protect Scotland App which is a free, mobile phone application designed to help us protect each other, reduce the spread of coronavirus and avoid further lockdowns.
"The app will alert you if you have been in close contact with another app user who tests positive for coronavirus. And if you test positive, it can help in determining contacts that you may have otherwise missed while keeping your information private and anonymous."
Find out more about the app and download it here.
We will continue to assess the situation and work with Health Protection Scotland and the Scottish Government’s advice to combat the virus. You will see we have put in some extra measures to help protect the health and well-being of everyone at Scotway House. This is our commitment to our residents to ensure a safe living and working environment for all.
Health & Safety
Communal areas are cleaned daily by our in-house service team. We have also had full disinfection of all communal areas by certified contractors and will continue to do this. You will also see hand sanitising stations and signage in line with Health Protection Scotland advice displayed around the building including social distance measures. Additionally, the reception area has a protective screen in place and we have a booking system for using communal areas to ensure social distancing is maintained and to keep the building as safe as possible.
We have FREE hand sanitisers and washable face masks at reception - remember to collect one when you check-in!
Social, But Distanced
We can still be social...and distanced! The social aspect is one of the best things about the student experience and we aren’t going to let COVID-19 get in the way of that! We have both a personal trainer and yoga instructor delivering a free 12-week online programme from September and that's just for starters.
